Retainer Purchasable - These are units that are purchasable by the retainers, but can be purchased by the daimyo as well.
10 Peasants - 10 Gold
The weakest unit. These are the people of cities drafted and handed a weapon. They usually have no experience what so ever, and have very low morale and are prone to run away.
10 Peasant Archers - 15 Gold
Unlike regular peasants, these are peasants who know how to use a bow. They are good at range, but get unnerved by units closing in on them. They have very low morale and are prone to run away.
10 City Militia - 20 Gold
These are men who volunteered to protect their city or village, who have a bit more training than most peasants, and usually have light armor, like a leather cuirass and a small buckler.
10 Light Swordsmen - 25 Gold
These are men who have little to no money, but are trained in the way of the sword. They have light armor, such as leather, and a sword. They are good for a forward attack, but not good defensively.
10 Light Yari Ashigaru- 25 Gold
These are men who have little to no money, but are trained in the way of the yari. They have light armor, such as leather, and a yari(spear). They are good for a defending flanks, but are not very good offensively.
10 Light Archers - 25 Gold
These are men who are trained in the art of the bow and wear light armor. However, they are very vulnerable to cavalry charges.
10 Light Cavalry - 30 Gold
The light horsemen, used for chasing down enemies, and for crashing into the enemies flanks or archers. They are however, vulnerable to yari ashigaru.
10 Trainee Ninja - 40 Gold
These are young people just beginning to learn about the ninja way. They are mainly used for traversing battlefields unnoticed collecting information. They can however be used to sneak around the enemy and wreak havoc. They wear little to no armor, which makes them vulnerable to all enemies, but they have high morale.
10 Swordsmen - 30 Gold
These men have lived by the sword for many years. While they are not samurai, they are skilled, where armor like scale male, and are very good offensive. Like their light counterparts, they aren't very good at defense, but shine on the offense.
10 Yari Ashigaru - 30 Gold
Like their light counterparts, they carry a yari, but heavy better armor, higher morale, and are trained better with their weapons. Best used defensively.
10 Naginata Footmen - 50 Gold
Men who carry a naginata, or a spearsword, are extremely good troops. They are good in attack and defense, however, they are not great at either. They are best used for a second wave or a second line of defense.
10 Archers - 30 Gold
These are men who live by the bow. They are good enough and even carry around a small sword with them so they can fight off any attackers that get to close. They have better armor and better bows. They are best used behind the line of a few yari ashigaru.
10 Yari Cavalry - 50 Gold
These are men who are rich enough to own horses and are quite skilled with their weapon of choice, the yari. They are armored and are good for charging enemy lines, better than their counterparts in attacking spearmen, but still take heavy damages. Best used against flanks or against cavalry charges.
10 Heavy Cavalry - 50 Gold
These horsemen carry large swords that they can use to tear apart the enemy upon the battlefield. Their horses are coated in armor as well as themselves. They are good shock troopers, but their horses tire quickly during charges. Best used as the first wave of cavalry.
10 Ninjas - 75 Gold
Men who have learned the ways of the ninja, and are quite good at it. They can traverse the battlefield almost unnoticed, light fire to enemy camps, and can attack the enemy from a front they never expected. They are wearing light armor and use swords to attack. They are best used for offense and recon.
10 Arquebusiers - 85 Gold
These are men who have acquired the primitive type of musket from Portuguese merchants. They are highly powerful and can cause massive damage, but they are extremely slow in reloading and have slightly low morale. They carry no other weapon with them therefore when enemies get to close they tend to run away. However, their weapon excels at mid-close range. These can be used as Shock-and-Awe troops. They are useless in the rain though.
Daimyo Purchasable - These are units that only the daimyo can purchase, with the max being 100 for each fief the daimyo controls. Buy them wisely.
10 Katana Samurai - 100 Gold
These are samurai. The elite of the soldiers. They are wealthy, wear heavy armor, and use their katana to good effect. They are good troops offensive, and are decent in defense. They are used as the back bone of any attack.
10 Nodachi Samurai - 100 Gold
These samurai are the shock troopers of the samurais. They wield a large two handed sword named a nodachi, which they use with devastating results. They are extremely good offensively, but care little for defense. They should be sent in first, or whenever the enemy morale wavers.
10 Yari Samurai - 100 Gold
These are samurai who excel at using the yari, with their heavy armor and their high quality weapon, they are masters of defending and are decent in offense. Best used in defense or against cavalry.
10 Yumi Samurai - 150 Gold
These samurai use the traditional bow called a Yumi, which they are experts at using. They also carry a katana with them, and while it is not their main weapon, they are quite adept with it. They are best used to volley upon the enemy or pick off stragglers. They have high morale and can fight close combat. They are, however, weak against cavalry.
10 Naginata Samurai - 175 Gold
The samurai who are best at using the Naginata, who excel at both defense and attack, and are best used pretty much anywhere. They wear heavy armor, have high quality weapons, and have high morale.
10 Samurai Cavalry - 200 Gold
These samurai ride upon their horses because they know that they are the best. They each have a sword and spear. They wear heavy armor and their horses are trained to withstand hours of battle. They are amazing attackers. They are still vulnerable to yari and naginatas.
10 Yumi Cavalry - 220 Gold
These samurai ride upon their horses with a sword and bow, but prefer to use the bow. They can ride circles around their opponents striking them down without them being able to touch them, however, they as well as their horses, but the constant circling can wear down their horses. They are best used as skirmishers. They are still vulnerable to yari.
10 Master Ninjas - 300 Gold
These ninjas have mastered the art of killing. They can travel around the battlefield completely unnoticed, and can cause devastating damage to the enemy. Their wear light armor and have weapons of the highest quality. They are excellent for laying ambushes because they can attack and disappear without a trace in the matter of an instant.
10 Musketeers - 300 Gold
These men carry better matchlock weapons compared to their cousins, aren't hindered by medium rain, have better reload times, and have better accuracy. They are still however, without another weapon, but are trained to use their muskets like clubs if it comes to that.
